Eastbourne, a thriving seaside resort, often the hottest place in the country in the summer has been popular since the 19th century.
The town has several parks including Devonshire Park, and Hampden Parks, there are also lawns all along the seafront promenade and Grand Parade, where the Wish Tower is situated; a Martello Tower built in 1804 now a museum. Parts of the old town include the 18th century Compton Place, not forgetting the pier, built in 1872 which is 600 feet long.
You can easily walk along the coast to Beachy Head, and visit the famous chalk headland with its breathtaking views, or carry on further to the great chalk stacks, the Seven Sisters . There's lots more to explore inland as well as along the coast.
